ABOUT D’NUVI MEDICAL CARE

A More Personal Approach to Primary Care

Modern healthcare was never meant to feel rushed or transactional. When assembly-line care prioritizes volume over thoughtful clinical care, the connection between patient and provider can easily get lost. At D’NuVi Medical Care, we have intentionally stepped away from that model to create a more personal, connected approach to primary care.

By capping our practice to a limited member panel, we protect one of the most valuable parts of good primary care: time. Time to listen closely, understand the full picture, ask the right questions, and create a thoughtful care plan that fits your health needs and your life here in Hampton Roads.

  • More time for thoughtful, personalized care

  • In-office, mobile, and telehealth visit options

  • Ongoing support for preventive and chronic care

Nurse practitioner-led primary care serving adults throughout Hampton Roads.

Questions Before You Join?

Direct Primary Care offers a simpler, more personal way to receive ongoing primary care. Review our straightforward guidelines regarding insurance coordination, out-of-pocket expenses, and after-hours availability.

What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is a membership-based approach to primary care. Members pay a monthly fee for the primary care services included in their membership, allowing for a more direct and ongoing relationship with D’NuVi Medical Care.

Is DPC the same as health insurance?

No. Direct Primary Care is not health insurance and does not replace comprehensive medical coverage. Your membership covers only the primary care services specifically included in your DPC agreement.

Should I keep my health insurance if I join DPC?

Yes. We strongly encourage members to maintain health insurance for care outside the DPC membership, including hospital care, emergency services, specialists, imaging, procedures, medications, lab testing, and other services not provided through D’NuVi Medical Care.

What is included in my DPC membership?

Membership includes ongoing adult primary care through in-office, mobile/home, and telehealth visits, preventive care, chronic disease management, medication management, secure portal messaging, care coordination, and other primary care services outlined in your membership agreement.

Can I use insurance for care at D’NuVi Medical Care?

D’NuVi Medical Care is expanding participation with select insurance plans for traditional primary care services. Direct Primary Care remains a separate membership option, and services included in the DPC membership are not billed to your health insurance.

How do mobile/home visits work?

Mobile primary care visits are available within the D’NuVi service area when appropriate and subject to scheduling and availability. Some concerns may be better suited for an in-office or telehealth visit, and your provider will help determine the most appropriate setting for your care.

How are labs, imaging, and specialist referrals handled?

Routine labs ordered and collected through D’NuVi are available to members at the laboratory cost with no additional draw fee. Imaging, specialty care, and other outside services are not included in the DPC membership and may be billed through your insurance or paid directly to the outside provider.

What happens if I need urgent or emergency care?

Established patients may request same-day care when availability allows. D’NuVi Medical Care is not an emergency service. For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Can Medicare beneficiaries join DPC?

Medicare has specific rules regarding membership-based medical care and services that may otherwise be covered by Medicare. If you have Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage, please contact D’NuVi Medical Care before enrolling so we can determine whether the DPC membership is appropriate based on your coverage and our current Medicare participation status.

How do I cancel my membership?

DPC memberships are month-to-month. You may cancel by providing 30 days’ written notice in accordance with your membership agreement.
